Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Chicago, Ill.
2008: Maggie Malone was a First Team All-SAC and All-Region performer as a freshman while also earning All-Freshman team honors in the conference. She was fourth in the SAC with 3.94 digs per set while leading the league with 4.27 digs per set in conference matches. Malone also led the Bulldogs with 40 aces on the year. She had double-digit digs in 23 matches on the year, while topping the 20-dig barrier five times. Malone followed a 24-dig performance at Tusculum by racking up 23 digs against Catawba. She then tied a school record with 36 digs in a 3-1 win at Lincoln Memorial. She racked up 22 digs in the Southeast Regional Tournament against Catawba.
High School: Maggie Malone was an all-conference and all-area selection in her senior season at Marist High School, where she was a captain and four-year starter. Her First Alliance team earned fifth place in the 18 open division at the 2007 Junior Olympic national tournament. All eight of her First Alliance teammates signed with NCAA Division I programs in November.
Coach Collier: “We had high expectations for Maggie last year as an incoming freshman, and she surpassed these expectations in a big way, earning several notable postseason awards as our starting libero. With a year of being a successful college libero, we expect Maggie to be even better this season as a sophomore."
