Biography
2009-10: As a junior Willers added depth and talent to Wingate and has yet to experience a conference title defeat having been on the winning side all three years at Wingate. He continues to be one of Wingate’s top sprint freestyle and backstrokers and will be relied on heavily his senior year for his experience and leadership.
2008-09: In his sophomore season, Lucas Willers again qualified for the NCAA Championships and earned conference champion honors. As one of Wingate’s top 200 Freestylers, Willers adds talent to what is probably the Bulldogs strongest event. His obvious talents were on display all year in dominating relay performances and strong individual swims.
2007-08: Willers was an all-conference and All-American for the Bulldogs during his sophomore year. He helped lead the 400 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay and 800 Free Relay teams to conference titles. Willers was an All-American on the 400 Medley Relay team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lucas Willers was a state qualifier all four years at Bellarmine Prep. He was an All-American his junior year in the 400Freestyle relay. He led his team to a second place finish in the state. He finished second individually his senior year. Born on April 28, 1989, Lucas is the son of Paul and Denise Willers. He is a Psych major.
