Greensboro, N.C.----Wingate University junior
Marko Blazevski (Skopje, Macedonia) won the men’s 500 Freestyle at the inaugural
All-North Carolina Invitational Friday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Blazevski posted a victorious time of 4:34.77. Fourteen schools are participating in this event.
Wingate was 10th in the men’s 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:26.92. Seniors
Spencer Waganaar (Satellite Beach, Fla.) and
Rory Julyan (Cape Town, South Africa) were joined by junior
Reed Miller (Mobile, Ala.) and sophomore
Issam Zeraidi (Brussels, Belgium). Duke won the men’s 200 Freestyle Relay.
In the women’s 500 Freestyle, Wingate claimed places 11-13. Bulldog redshirt freshman
Julie Wessler (Sprockhövel, Germany) was 11th with a time of 5:14.37, with seniors
Elly Speer (Manly, Sydney, Australia, 5:14.38) and
Paige Schmidt (Clearwater, Fla., 5:14.75) close behind.

Katie Pheil (Ocala, Fla.) swam the first leg on two relay quartets. She teamed with senior
Eduarda Zucco (Brasque, Brazil), junior
Amanda Gilbert (Metairie, La.) and freshman
Amanda Ray (Suwanee, Ga.) to swim a 1:42.02 in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Pheil, Ray and juniors
Charlotte Cornet (Brussels, Belgium) and
Valerie Dembny (Bremen, Germany) posted a 4:03.87 in the 400 Medley Relay.
