Four Bulldogs earn All-SAC honors

Rock Hill, S.C. ----The Wingate University Bulldogs men’s tennis team has four players on the All-South Atlantic Conference team, league officials announced today. Sophomores Matthew Lichtenstein (Darnestown, Md.) and Bruno Pudence (Sao Paulo, Brazil) both took first team honors, while junior Braeden Patchell (Oakville, Ontario) and sophomore Flavio Rathsam (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took second team honors.
Lichtenstein accumulated a 12-5 singles record with playing primarily in the number two hole for the Bulldogs. He also posted a 7-1 SAC record while helping the Bulldogs to a second-place finish in the SAC. Lichtenstein also played on three different doubles pairings, posting an overall record of 12-4 record as well as a 7-1 SAC record in the second and third doubles slot.
Pudence played in the number one singles and doubles slot, posting a 9-8 overall singles and a 9-6 doubles record. Pudence had a SAC record of 4-4 in singles and doubles, going 5-5 in his last ten matches for both singles and doubles.
Patchell compiled a record of 10-6 overall, while going 6-2 in the SAC playing in the three and four spots for the Bulldogs. He is 6-4 in his last ten matches. He also played primarily in the second slot for doubles, going a combined 4-7 with several different pairings. He has a 1-3 SAC doubles slate.
Rathsam played in the four and five spots in singles for the Bulldogs and led the team in wins, going 15-1 overall and 8-0 in the SAC. He is 9-1 in his last ten matches overall. Ratchsam also played in the number one doubles slot, posting a 9-7 overall record and a 4-4 SAC record.
On April 14, Rathsam saw his 26-match singles winning streak end against USC Aiken. Rathsam is 15-1 overall for his sophomore season and 28-2 overall for his Bulldog career.
The men took second in the SAC regular season, earning a two seed in the upcoming Food Lion SAC tournament.
