Aiken, S.C.----The 17th-ranked Pacers of USC Aiken defeated the Bulldogs of Wingate University 6-3 in NCAA Division II men’s tennis action Wednesday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 1-0 on the year, while Wingate falls to 1-1.

Wingate University sophomore Flavio Rathsam (Sao Paulo, Brazil) went 2-0 on the day. He won his number five singles match over Filipe Garcia 6-4, 2-6, 10-6. Rathsam then teamed with sophomore Bruno Pudence (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for an 8-6 win in number one doubles. Wingate sophomore Andrew Owen (Kitchener, Ontario) picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ben Klaas in number four singles action for the Bulldogs.

Wingate returns to action Tuesday, February 9, traveling to Augusta State for a 2 p.m. start. USC Aiken returns to action Thursday, February 11, traveling to Benedict for a 12 p.m. start.
