Wingate University Men's Cross Country All-Decade Team

Wingate, N.C.-----The Wingate University Sports Information staff has compiled All-Decade teams for each of the 17 sports at the University. Over the course of the next three weeks, a new team will be released periodically. Today, we recognize the standouts for the men’s and women's cross country teams from the 2000 through the 2009 seasons. On Thursday afternoon, the volleyball All-Decade team will be released.
Men's Cross Country
Jayce Watson (Millersport, Ohio) - Two-time SAC Runner of the Year…Three-time qualifier for national meet…Holds school records in both the 8K and the 10K…Four-time All-SAC and All-Region performer and a three-time team MVP…2005 SAC Freshman Runner of the Year...Academic All-America® third team following his senior season…
Brad Topper (Thurmont, Md.) - All-South Atlantic Conference performer (second team) in 2003 and 2004…Ran a personal-best to earn All-SAC honors in 2003… SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…Married All-Decade women’s team member Natalie Creech…
David Sanctis (Charlotte, N.C.) - All-South Atlantic Conference runner (second team) his final two seasons as a Bulldog…Nine top 10 finishes during his junior and senior campaigns…SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…
Tesfom Mehari (Charlotte, N.C.) - All-South Atlantic Conference runner (second team) first two years at Wingate…All-Freshman team in 2008…Five top 10 finishes in two seasons…
Ryan Jones (Rutherford College, N.C.) - First team All-SAC performer in 2000…second team All-SAC in 2001…finished 24th in NCAA regionals as a freshman, helping team to fourth place finish…
Doug Coats (Durham, N.C.) - Six top 10 finishes his final two seasons…All-SAC in 2008 and 2009… SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…Named Mr. Consistency…
Todd Bergel (Naples, Fla.) – He capped a brilliant career with his first-ever All-Region performance at the 2000 regional meet…All-SAC honors in 2000…Team MVP his final season…
