Three Bulldogs named to All-SAC team

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University junior Hollyn Alberghini (Stanfield, N.C.) and sophomores Zoe Hartas (Sydney, Australia) and Kara Stasikelis (Greer, S.C.) were named to the All-South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis second team, league officials announced Thursday.

Alberghini went 13-5 on the year, leading the Bulldogs in victories while playing in number four singles spot. She also went a perfect 8-0 in SAC matches. The West Stanly High School standout has won nine of her last 10 matches overall. Alberghini also racked up seven victories in doubles action for the Bulldogs.

Hartas led the Bulldogs with 10 doubles victories, while going a perfect 8-0 in SAC matches. She also notched six victories in singles action, including five in the number three singles spot.

Stasikelis racked up six singles victories for the Bulldogs, playing number one singles all year. She also picked up seven victories in doubles, with five of those victories coming in number two doubles action.

The Bulldogs finished third in the regular season SAC standings, earning a three seed in this week’s Food Lion SAC Tournament. Wingate defeated Catawba 5-1 on Tuesday, and will face Carson-Newman 12 p.m. Friday afternoon.
