Bookmark and Share
Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore Mitchell Lvovsky (Dania, Fla.) was named the All-SAC first team, while sophomore Braeden Patchell (Oakville, Ontario) and freshman Bruno Pudence (Sao Paulo, Brazil) were second team all-conference selections, league officials announced Thursday. In addition, head coach Michael Cabana has been named the men’s tennis SAC Coach of the Year.

Lvovsky posted an impressive 11-4 record playing as Wingate’s number one and number two singles player. He went 7-1 during SAC matches during the regular season, and has won eight of his last 10 matches overall. Lvovsky’s win over Mars Hill’s Alessandro du Besse on April 15 clinched Wingate’s perfect SAC record and regular season title. It was also the only conference loss for du Besse, who was named the SAC Player of the Year.

Patchell went 11-3 during the season, while going a perfect 8-0 in SAC play. He has won his last nine matches playing as Wingate’s number three singles player.

Pudence notched a 4-4 record in conference action, playing primarily in the number one singles spot for the Bulldogs. He also racked up six wins in doubles action, playing in both number one and number two doubles for the Bulldogs.

Cabana guided the Bulldogs to a perfect 8-0 SAC season, as the Bulldogs won the regular season title and claimed the number one seed in this week’s Food Lion SAC Tournament. The Bulldogs have won their last 10 matches against Division II opponents and are 11-4 overall. In the eight SAC matches, Wingate defeated its opponents 62-19.
