Rock Hill, S.C.----The Wingate University football team earned seven spots on the pre-season All-South Atlantic Conference team, league officials announced this afternoon. The Bulldogs had four student-athletes earn offensive honors, while three players received defensive laurels. In the pre-season coaches’ poll, Wingate is picked to finish second. The Bulldogs received two first-place votes.

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University redshirt senior Perry Floyd (Gastonia, N.C.) is a first team pre-season All-American return specialist, as named by Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Saturday. CDS has named pre-season football All-American teams for seven years.

Hartford, Conn.----Wingate University offensive lineman Ben Benshoof (Huntersville, N.C.) was drafted by the Hartford Colonials in the 10th round of the 2010 United Football League Player Draft last week. In April, Benshoof participated in a try-out during the N.Y. Giants rookie mini-camp. A 6-6, 315-pound lineman, Benshoof is a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School. In 2009, Benshoof was a first team All-South Atlantic Conference performer.
